Just Another Day at the Beach

Finally, after talking about it for months (or longer), Lauren and I were able to go on our first camping trip together!  For 2 people who love camping as much as we do, it is pretty surprising how long it took for us to get out there.  We headed out Friday after school to Myrtle Beach State Park; a campground right on the beach.  The night included stories by the campfire, hot dogs and S’mores (made with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups [thanks Ben for the great idea!]), an after-dark walk on the beach (including crab sightings!), and falling asleep to the sound of the waves.

The next day, we made eggs and hashbrowns on our new Coleman Propane Stove (which worked great!)  We packed up our things and took another walk on the beach before departing to Brookgreen Gardens.  Now this part of our mini-vacation was not something we had originally planned.  We just wanted to go camping, since we finally had a weekend where we could go.  But when we told some of the other teachers at school our Friday night plans, all of them went, “You need to go to Brookgreen Gardens!  Wait… you’ve never heard of Brookgreen Gardens?!?  Well…” and the conversation continued with them telling us all about how amazing this place is… especially in the Spring.  So of course, we added it to our agenda.

Let’s just say… they were right.  A-mazing.  No other way to describe it.  I can’t do it justice by trying to describe it, so instead I will simply put up some pictures and give you the link to their site to see for yourself.

Very cool. I think I could be persuaded to camp on a beach. And those gardens. Beautiful! Looks like a fun time. 🙂

Dylan, I am noticing a trend…that you don’t have t-shirts of your own and must wear Laurens…first Adastra, then the 2 AP tests. Perhaps you and Daniel could go shopping at Goodwill together sometime? He’s somehow managed to gain some of mine as well.

p.s. are y’all actually having to share the orange shirt on the same trip? looks like lauren is wearing it while cooking over the fire and you have it on the next day at the gardens.

  5. nassfam says:

Haha… we just have a lot of orange shirts. 🙂

  6. nassfam says:

Aaaaand I wore the shirt both days… the joys of camping and not changing clothes the whole time!
